The Imbolc celebration marks the first stirrings of spring - the earth quietly getting ready for the return of the light. Imbolc comes from an Old Irish meaning “in the belly", referring both to the ewes who begin to lactate at this time and to the “in-the-belly” beginnings of new life within the earth. It is a celebration of renewal, creative spark, and first awakening after a deep rest. Energetically, the wheel turns from stillness to movement - softly, quietly. Following the earth's messages, this is the time to slowly start shedding the layers of the dark winter hibernation and make space for the new.
